Job Description

Mhlathuze Water Operations Department offers a one year Water and Waste Water Treatment learnership for 5 candidates who have successfully completed

their matric (grade 12) with Mathematics and Science who are interested in developing the skills required to work in the water industry.


  • Intense training
  • Attending classes
  • Completing a Portfolio of Evidence (POE)
  • Doing practical’s at the Mhlathuze Water Treatment Plants.


Applicant’s must be:

  • Unemployed
  • Passed Matric with Mathematics and Science (minimum pass of 50%)
  • Be youth to the age of 35

Returnable Documents must include:

  • Detailed CV
  • Certified copies of the applicants Matric certificate and SA identity document
  • A short motivation as to why the applicant should be selected
  • Proof of Residence

NB:  This programme is not opened to candidates who have completed any qualifications at NQF level 5 and above

Preference will be given to applicants from the areas that are within Mhlathuze Water area of operation (uMkhanyakude DM, King Cetshwayo DM and the Zululand DM)

Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a selection process.  Applications for the above opportunities, including details of recent contactable referees, must be sent to HR Training Officer, Mhlathuze Water, P/Bag X1047, Richards Bay, 3900 or hand delivered to our head office at the Cnr of South Central Arterial and Battery Bank, Alton, Richards Bay .  Quote the reference Learnership 2021/10 not later than Friday, 15 October 2021  (NB: before 1pm)
